What is From Blocks to Books?
From Blocks To Books is a program devised by a parent for parents of
infants and toddlers to help them develop reading readiness and basic
reading skills using wooden alphabet blocks and basic phonetic
sounds. I used the program to help my own child gain reading
readiness skills from the time he was old enough to hold a block. He
was a competent reader by the time he entered kindergarten. The program
can also be used by speakers of almost any language, including Spanish,
to help their children gain reading readiness skills. |

 |
How much time does the program
take out of my busy day?
The From Blocks To Books reading readiness program can be used for as
little as five minutes a day five days a week. |

Is it Difficult and Tedious? Will
my child not want to participate?
From Blocks To Books is as enjoyable and easy as playing with blocks
with your child. While you and your child are stacking the blocks and
making things with the blocks your child will be learning the basics of
reading as well as developing his or her hand/eye coordination skills. |

 |
How old should a child be to use
the From Blocks to Books program?
Any child that can grasp a block can benefit from the program up to
school age children who may need help with their reading. |

How does the From Blocks to Books
program compare to more expensive electronic phonics and reading games,
programs, and flashcards?
Every child likes to play with blocks and they love to play with their
parents. Electronic games are often solitary activities and flash cards
can get boring and tedious. You and your child will enjoy playing with
the wooden blocks and your child will be gaining valuable reading
readiness and reading skills at the same time. It’s something both you
and your child can enjoy and do together. |

What is the "Parenting Ideas"
section?
The parenting ideas section contains the specific ways I helped my son
deal with his dislike of school and deal with his negative emotions.
The suggestions as to how to help a child with these two issues are
easy to do and can be comfortable for the child also. I can’t guarantee
they will help your child, but they might. Once you try them, you will
know whether they are helpful in your situation or not. |
